Lair Mohammed ;Urgent Need for
APC ,THE LOOTERS DEN*
*APC ,THE LOOTERS DEN*
1. During the initial implementation of TSA, REMITA fraudulently made N26Billion in 6 months. Do you still remember the then whistleblower? Senator Dino. Interestingly, no action from Buhari till date.
2. A government that is yet to account for $26Billion (N9Trillion) stolen through corrupt Oil contracts in the NNPC, yet APC/Buhari claim to be fighting corruption.
3. N1.1 Trillion worth of crude diverted to service APC interests, Both APC/Buhari are Quiet.
4. N18 Billion Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) intervention fund stolen by APC officials.
5. N270Million Grass-cuttering Scandal involving, Former SGF, Babachir Lawal Aka "Who is the Presidency" till date no prosecution, nothing! Babachir still walks freely majestically.
See List of 5 Companies Babachir Lawal Used In Grass-cutting Scandal:
A. Josmon Technologies Limited:
According to Senate report, Josmon Technologies Limited transferred N317 million to Rholavision between March 29, 2016 and April 20, 2016, immediately the company got the two "grass-cutting" contracts worth N530.6 million for clearing invasive plant species in Yobe State.
The transfers were said to have made in tranches, mostly N10 million per transaction, and N47 million on the last day.
B. Rholavision:
Babachir's company, Rholavision was awarded the consultancy contract for the "grass-cutting" contract on March 8, 2016. This is a breach of Nigeria's code of conduct for public officers and the Public Procurement Act.
C. JMT Global Technologies Ltd:
JMT Global Technologies Ltd on August 8, 2016 transferred N30 million from its Zenith Bank account 114357188 to Rholavision after he got eight contracts for "rehabilitations/renovations in Adamawa" state for the sum of N199.4 million.
D. Messrs Adamawa Boreholes and Drilling Companies Ltd:
Messrs Adamawa Boreholes and Drilling Companies Ltd transferred N18 million to Rholavision, after being awarded N54.8 million contract to renovate seven classrooms at Yeskule Girls Secondary School, Michika Adamawa state.
E. Barde Brothers Multi-Services Limited:
Barde Brothers Multi-Services Limited which got seven contracts to renovate classrooms in Adamawa state for N145 million paid N71 million to Rholavision account on October 10, 2016, and another N13 million between July 7, 2016 and September 9, 2016 to his private account.
6. N10 Billion National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) for which members of the Buhari cabal were indicted.
7. MainaGate, where the APC government recalled, reinstated and promoted an individual indicted for scam running into billions of naira.
8. Buhari's Chief Of Staff, Abba Kyari indicted in MTN N500Million scam. A MTN staff named Amina Oyagbola (Dir. Of Strategic Communication) was fired for her involvement in a shoddy deal with Abba Kyari but Buhari hasn't done anything till date against his COS.
9. DG, NIA Amb. Ayo Oke, N13Billion Osbourne Towers, Ikoyi Loots investigation also swept under the carpet by Buhari.
10. President Buhari's refusal to sack his Chief of Army Staff, General Yusuf Buratai who has been shown with overwhelming evidence to have corruptly enriched himself.
11. Sahara Energy's $50 billion Scandal has been swept under the ground by Buhari's aides, most notably the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari and the Director of DSS, Lawal Musa Daura. So far, Buhari has not deemed it fit to intervene.
12. There has been mountain of petitions against Rotimi Amaechi. Amaechi has a reputation as "one of the most corrupt members of Buhari's cabinet". Amaechi has not been able to explain to Nigerians how he got the $36 million with which he bought Jets. His name has also been mentioned by two different judges in serious acts of corruption. President Buhari could only have the judges arrested on allegations, but not Amaechi on any allegations. He still allows Amaechi to remain in the cabinet.
13. The Lai Mohammed's N13Million scandal in which the Minister of Information and Culture caused a letter to be written by his Director of Public Relations and Protocol to the National Broadcasting Commission requesting a loan of same amount. Buhari has refused to investigate this.
*"In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility – I welcome it."*
*- John F. Kennedy, in his Inaugural Address January 20, 1961*
I really sympathize with those Nigerians that wasted 15million votes on this pretentiously corrupt Party called APC and Buhari!

Thief with Conscience .
Theophilus Danjuma got his oil field allocation on a platter of gold. Late Head of State Sani Abacha awarded the Oil Prospecting License (OPL) 246 to SAPETRO in February 1988. The block covers a total area of 2,590 square kilometers .SAPETRO partnered with Total Upstream Nigeria (TUPNI) and Brasoil Oil Services Company Limited (Petrobas) to start prospecting on OPL246. Akpo, a condensate field was discovered in April 2000 with drilling commencing in 2001. In 2006 Danjuma divested his investment in Akpo oil field to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) for $1Billion dollars .However, Danjuma still had some conscience left in him. He paid tax of $500million dollars to the Nigerian state and had about $500 million dollars remaining. He then released $100 million dollars to the Nigerian people in the form of foundation for social responsibility projects. Crook of old order

Pastor Osibanjo May God Help You.
By all standard, Vice President Yemi Osibanjo should have been a respectable and adored personality who should not be involved in any frivolity nor to open his mouth carelessly. He should be circumspect and careful in what he says and how he says it.Osibanjo is not only a senior pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). He is also a senior lawyer and an academic of outstanding credentials. But it appears that the temptations and lure of office, the desire to prove that one is still a strong member of the team and therefore should not be left behind when Buhari declares his intention to recontest the presidency in 2019, are changing all these.Osibanjo now talks like a motorpark tout, openig his mouth so wide and engaging in shouts at the market place. He is becoming more Catholic than the Pope, or weeping more than the bereaved. The other day Osibanjo had treated us with the theatrical that former President Goodluck Jonathan had frittered away a whopping N150 billion in frivolous contracts, two weeks to his vacating office in 2015. He however did not provide any detail about how that was spent. While we may not be in a position to either affirm or to deny this, our concern is that why should Osibanjo be disturbing us with something that had happened since three years ago? What was the purpose of revealing the deal at this tail end of the administration's tenure? If indeed Jonathan had stolen government money, why wait till now to start telling us about it? Why wouldn't the federal government in its usual manner, use its appropriate machinery to recover such stolen money? What the current administration has specialized in are demonizing, media trial and conviction of innocent Nigerians without having concrete evidence to support their charges. Otherwise, how many of those the administration had accused of corruption have been convicted by any court of competent jurisdiction? We are disappointed that Vice President Yemi Osibanjo with all his credentials should join the league of Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Femi Adesina, Garba Shehu, etc. by painting white to black. We are not saying that Jonathan stole or did not steal any money, we leave the case to Jonathan because he is capable of defending himself, our concern is: why wait for three years to tell us about that, and why not go through the proper channel to establish the fact?At any rate, neither Yemi Osibanjo nor anybody in government, had come out to tell us what the "transparent" government of President Muhammadu Buhari had spent in the more than three months of keeping our President in London while undergoing treatment there. Everything is rapped in top secrecy. Where Is The Lagos Sate-Owned Sunburn Yacht Hotel?
Where Is The Lagos Sate-Owned Sunburn Yacht Hotel?
Remember the very imposing Sunburn Yacht Hotel that moored for about 4 years at the Marina Waterfront at Marina, Lagos?
Throughout that period, it was the cynosure of all eyes.
Whatever happened to it?
Recall that, in November 2008, the Lagos State government through the then commissioner of tourism and Inter-governmental Relations, Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi, amidst pomp and pageantry, took delivery of the luxurious ship.
It is on record that Senator Afikuyomi told Lagosians that the floating hotel was the first of its kind in Africa and the Middle East.
He also said that it would put the State and Nigeria in the league of the first five major cities of the world with similar hospitable facilities and tourism earnings capabilities.
Afikuyomi also added that the yacht came to Lagos to turn around the state's fortune in tourism and hospitality services.
The Sunburn Yacht Hotel is a custom-built yacht. It features 102 elegant suites. It was brought to Lagos state from England.
The yacht hotel was expected to serve as a four-star hotel and a revenue earner for the state.
It was said to be worth about 5 Billion Naira.
But today, there is no trace of it anywhere.
So, again, we ask – where is the Sunburn Yacht Hotel?

APC AND THE SPIRIT OF WITCHCRAFT
APC AND THE SPIRIT OF WITCHCRAFT
Femi Aribisala.
Both Christians and Muslims must reject outright the strange spirit that the APC, in its lust for power, has imported into Nigeria.
On 27th November, 2014, at the inauguration of Rauf Aregbesola as second-term governor of Osun State, Senator Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the APC, asked Nigerians to prepare their charms and other juju powers for the 2015 elections. Present on that occasion were the big guns of the APC, including now President Muhammadu Buhari, former party chairman Chief Bisi Akande and APC state governors.
Why would Tinubu, a practicing Muslim, ask people to seek occult powers in order to prevail in elections? Why would Yemi Osinbajo, a Christian pastor, later associate with a political party whose leadership dabbles in the occult?
Nigerians are a deeply religious people, whether Christian or Moslem. Both faiths believe in the Lord God Almighty. Neither permits resort to witchcraft. However, Hosea warns: "My people are destroyed because they have no knowledge." Could it be that APC members and Nigerians at large are unaware of the cultist foundations upon which the party is built?
Cultist broom
The broom symbol of the ACN was later adopted as the logo of the APC with the coalition of the legacy parties. Millions of brooms were bought by APC supporters during the 2015 election campaigns, to the delight of broom-sellers. These were then brandished lavishly during the election rallies.
Ordinarily, the broom is a powerful and effective symbol for a political party. In practical everyday life, brooms are used to sweep away dirt. It is therefore appropriate for a political party, especially one in opposition, to use it as a symbol of its determination to sweep away the government in power and clean up the filth and corruption in Nigerian society.
However, the broom is also a witchcraft symbol believed by the cultist to provide the power to rise above the earthly plane and to soar in the spirit realm. In the West, brooms are associated with witches visualized as hags who fly through the air on broomsticks. These witches use their cultist brooms to sweep away their traces to avoid detection.
Herbalists use the broom to invoke the spirit of the dead. The broom is used as a gate or door before a ritual space. A witch draws a magical circle, enters it, and then places the broom over the doorway as a means to keep out unwanted energies or people.
Bad luck
There is sufficient evidence to indicate that the APC employed the broom as an instrument of witchcraft and superstition during the 2015 elections. What is cultist about the APC broom is the way and manner it is displayed. The APC broom is held up and not down. It is held above the head and then waved in the air. This gives it a hidden meaning not generally recognised.
In the occult, when brooms are waved in the air, they have the opposite effect of cleaning up dirt; they spread dirt. When waved in the air, brooms pour dirt on our heads. This makes it sinister that the APC chose this very gesture as its definitive slogan.
In this part of the world, it is considered taboo for men especially to raise the broom above the head. To do so is to invoke evil spirits. With the broom raised everywhere during the campaigns, the APC used it to cast a spell on Nigerians. Many are just beginning to wake up from this spell after disaster-filled days of a do-nothing Buhari administration.
In Yoruba folklore, it is a bad omen for the broom to stand erect; it must lie on the ground. The taboo is that if it stands erect, it will be used by evil spirits to bring bad luck. The occult design here was fitted for APC electoral purposes. The party used its cultist broom to sweep away good luck from Nigeria in the person of Goodluck Jonathan. This means its success at the polls portends a bad omen for Nigeria.
Witchcraft mumbo-jumbo says if you sweep out the room occupied by an unwelcome guest immediately after his departure, you will prevent him from returning. Therefore, after President Jonathan and the PDP finished their political rally at the polo ground in Kano in April 2015, the APC Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso; his deputy, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and some members of governor's cabinet came out with brooms to sweep the grounds. This shows they believed in the cultist powers of their logo and invoked it on the president.
Generational curses
In India, from where APC borrowed this hocus pocus, the mother goddess who waves the broom is called Shitala. This Hindu siren has several hands and is associated with quite a number of debilitating ailments, many not immediately apparent. At first, the broom would seem to meet all of our deepest longings. But, sooner than later, its devastating side-effects would emerge.
The broom is united at the bottom and this would seem to signify unity. However, it is scattered at the top, which spells disunity. With the scattered end waved in the air, the APC broom portends disunity for Nigeria, both at the party and at the national level.
With Buhari now at the helm, Nigerians have witnessed a lot of squabbles within the APC. Attempts to paper over the cracks are illusory. More ominous is President Buhari's emergence as a sectional ethnic leader. His blatantly lopsided political appointments, designed to make the South a colony of the North, poses great threat Nigerian unity.
This should not come as a surprise. When you employ the broom goddess to sweep away your opponents, she also sweeps away your national image, your honour, strength, peace and independence as a nation.
Bad omen
By electing the APC into power, Nigerians inadvertently accepted the rule of the broom goddess. Unless a conscious effort is made to reject this evil spirit, it will prevail over our national affairs in the next four years. This will bring fruitless hard labour. People will work like jackasses and eat like ants. Holes will be burnt in pockets. Lives will be wasted needlessly.
The broom goddess brings emptiness and restlessness. She provides broken cisterns that cannot hold water. There will be no peace in the country and the people will reject the truth.
Indeed, the days of APC government have been characterized by lies, more lies and broken promises. Nigeria has gone from go-slow to standstill. The currency has declined; the oil price has nose-dived; Boko Haram killings have multiplied. It is increasingly obvious that Nigerians were hypnotized and hoodwinked by the APC in the 2015 elections.
National redemption
It is not enough to claim disbelief in the power of darkness. Witchcraft is real. If it were not, many would not subscribe to it and appeal to it. However, cultist power is far inferior to the power of God. This means the occult should not just be ignored; it must be resisted; otherwise its attendant evils will prevail. Therefore, those of us who believe in God must be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.
Both Christians and Muslims need to fast and pray and take a stand. We must reject outright the strange spirit that the APC, in its lust for power, has imported into Nigeria.

A SELF DECEIVING COUNTRY CALLED NIGERIA
A SELF DECEIVING COUNTRY CALLED NIGERIA
Twenty-one senators currently receiving pensions from government as ex-governors and deputy governors.
The current senators who once served as governors are Bukola Saraki of Kwara, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano, Kabiru Gaya of Kano, Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom, Theodore Orji of Abia, Abdullahi Adamu of Nasarawa, Sam Egwu of Ebonyi, Shaaba Lafiagi of Kwara, Joshua Dariye of Plateau Jonah Jang of Plateau, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko of Sokoto, Ahmed Sani Yarima of Zamfara, Danjuma Goje of Gombe, Bukar Abba Ibrahim of Yobe, Adamu Aliero of Kebbi, George Akume of Benue.
The former deputy governors in the Senate are Ms Biodun Olujimi of Ekiti and Enyinaya Harcourt Abaribe of Abia. Danladi Abubakar Sani served as the acting governor of Taraba state.
Many former governors are also in Buhari's Cabinet as Ministers. This includes: Ngige, Fayemi, Amaechi and Fashola (SAN).).
In Akwa Ibom State, the law provides that ex governors and deputy governors receive pension equivalent to the salaries of the incumbent. The package also includes a new official car and a utility vehicle every four years; one personal aide; a cook, chauffeurs and security guards for the governor at a sum not exceeding N5 million per month and N2.5 million for his deputy governor.
In Rivers, the law provides 100 percent of annual basic salaries for the ex-governor and deputy, one residential house for the former governor "anywhere of his choice in Nigeria"; one residential house anywhere in Rivers for the deputy, three cars for the ex-governor every four years and two cars for the deputy every four years.
It is alledged that in Lagos, a former governor will get two houses, one in Lagos and another in Abuja, estimated at N500 million in Lagos and N700 million in Abuja. He also receives six new cars to be replaced every three years; a furniture allowance of 300 percent of annual salary to be paid every two years, and a N30 million pension annually for life.
This is the reality for all the 21 ex govenors and deputy governors who are currently serving as senators. This same is also true of ex governors who are now serving as Ministers.
NOW I ASK:
How many years did these guys serve their states as governors and deputy governors? Is it more than 8years? Is that a reason to be entitled to pensions for life? Even if they are entitled to pension for life, must it be so outrageous?
As if that is not enough: HOW on earth can any public servant with conscience collect salaries and allowances as a senator or minister, and still have the audacity to claim pensions equivalent to the salaries of a serving governor in Nigeria?
IT ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE......
Once you are elected a senator or appointed a minister, you must forfeit any pension accruing to you from government at any level until you vacate office. This should also apply to senators collecting military pensions like former Senate President David Mark.
Yet these senators are in the Senate that is inviting the current finance minister to discuss the recession of Nigeria's economy. A senator pockets approximately 30 million naira monthly as salary and allowances. Our "honourables" are not interested to make laws that could restructure our country into economically autonomous federating States/Regions to save the country from sectional agitations that is threatening to destroy Nigeria. The sad and hopeless situation is that the rest of Nigerians are busy arguing based on party, ethnic and affiliations while these enemies of state continue to rape us.
Do you know that it costs tax payers 290m Naira yearly to maintain each member of our National Assembly in a country where nothing works & 80% of population earn below 300 Naira a day ? A working day earning of a senator is more than a yearly income of a doctor; it's more than the salary of 42 Army generals or 48 professors or 70 commissioners of police or more than twice the pay of the US President or 9 times the salary of US congressmen.
It's high time the country had a referendum on those outrageous salaries of Senators, House of Representative members and other political office holders.

Mass Job Loss For Married Women In Gloworld Department Of Globacom
Mass Job Loss For Married Women In Gloworld Department Of Globaco
Married female staff of Globacom are currently in pains after the Chairman, Mike Adenuga laid off over 90 of them, according to a reliable source, the management laid them off because they were married and Mike Adenuga does not want married women in his company again.
Read a post from one of the sacked female staff.
I received a rude shock from the company I have served diligently for 13years yesterday. I, alongside almost 90 other married women were laid off simply because we are married and Dr. Mike Adenuga does not want any married woman in Globacom (Gloworld friendship centre).
I was laid off a company I dedicated my time & energy to, working tirelessly and always dedicated to my job giving my 200%. My family & friends would always say if I had a cut, my blood will be "green". Some of you would wonder what I was doing in Globacom for 13 good years, I will give you an insight of my story.
I joined the company a vibrant 22year old, freshly out of school graduate. I have worked with dedication, total commitment and loyalty. I can convinietly say I rose through the ladder being an outstanding staff and got whatever due given to such persons. Not a single one of the several bosses I have worked with can give negative report about me.
I have trained several staff on the job and can proudly say that i was a good leader as I was a follower. So yes, I was not stagnant (considering that the company has no coherent organizational structure) and had every reason to believe that hard work & dedication pays until Globacom said otherwise.
We were replaced with males (some of whom have not earned the positions) single ladies (who have neither earned nor have any knowledge about the job) and newly recruited staff who are by the way poorly paid all in a bid to get rid of us.
How can experience be thrown away because of a so called new structure? How does a marital blessing with the gift of children suddenly become a dissabilty to work? I'm not certain there is anyone that wishes for their child, sister, friend or even herself to be unmarried and not have children. This act is a discrimination against gender and human rights to work.
We were laid off with absolutely nothing in form of compensation for what they have done! We were used and thrown away with only one month salary in lieu which they promised to pay yesterday but have obviously failed to as usual. It is only in Globacom that such injustice can be done & feel "they" will get away with it. Please we need justice over the matter, kindly forward to as many of your contacts until justice prevails, this cannot be swept under the carpet! Thank you.

ARIK AIR CAUGHT FIRE AIRBORNE ON LAGOS - ACCRA FLIGHT (06/03/2018)
HORRIBLE FLIGHT EXPERIENCE: A NEAR CRASH INCIDENT ON ARIK AIR FLIGHT FROM LAGOS TO ACCRA ON TUESDAY 06/03/2018
I boarded Arik air flight W3304 to Accra on Tuesday 06/03/2018. The name of the aircraft is STEPHEN. It was a Dash 8 NextGen propeller aircraft. The flight took off precisely 7.20pm (Lagos time)
35 minutes into the 55 minutes flight, I started perceiving something smelling like a burning stuff. Shortly after the guy sitting next to me asked if I perceived any smell of burning stuff and that confirmed my worst fears. Before you could say jack, smoke has filled the cabin. The air hostesses were busy scampering around opening the cabins and the lavatories to check if they could trace the source of the smoke without success.
While that continued, the oxygen masks that were always being advertised during the safety demo prior to take-off couldn't be released instead we were handed tissue papers (otherwise called serviets) to use to cover our noses to minimize and filter out possible carbon monoxide inhalation.
About 5 minutes after, precisely with 15 minutes of flight time remaining, the pilot came on the public address system to inform us that they have smoke coming into the cabin and that they don't know the source and that they have DECLARED EMERGENCY".
At that point we knew that our lives were only in God's hands. Everyone prayed to his/her Gods.
To the glory of God, the flight successfully landed by 8.15pm (7.15pm Accra time) to the waiting of several fire service trucks at Kotoko International airport, Accra.
We were evacuated into a waiting bus with instruction to leave everything behind in the cabin. Sadly there was no Arik official to address us neither was there any manner of first aid attention given to the passengers to manage stress and possible elevated blood pressures.
After a while our cabin luggage were brought to us and we had to leave from there to go through the Ghana immigration to our individual destinations.
I'm highly discouraged that this near crash major incident was not reported in the media 2 days after (today is 08/03/2018) and I suspect a cover up by Arik and the authorities. So I have chosen to use the social media to ensure this news gets out.
Kindly keep forwarding this message till everybody is made aware of the quality and kind of services Arik air gives and the possible cover ups before something terrible happens.
If anyone is in doubt, I can be reached through chymexus@yahoo.com and I can provide my phone number for further verification.
Thanks for sharing with all your contacts and groups.

What You Don't Know About Lieutenant Colonel Banjo: The Yoruba Biafran Soldier .
What You Don't Know About Lieutenant Colonel Banjo: The Yoruba Biafran Soldier .
Voxnews
There are few photos of Lt. Col. Banjo that do not have his wife or family in them. He was one who loved his family and his people. (Abiyamo)
There are some who believe that Nigeria's Civil War, fought between 1967 and 1970, is not really a civil war, but a dispute between a set of tribes; Yoruba and Hausa on one and the East on the other.
This assertion does not consider people like Lt. Col. Banjo, the Yoruba soldier who rose among the ranks fighting for the Biafran Army and did so until his death at the height of the war.
Not much is known about Lt. Col. Banjo's early life. He was born "Victor Adebukunola Banjo" as an Ijebu-man in Ogun State on April 1, 1930.
From Ogun's foggy towns, he joined the Army as one of a generation of precocious young men in 1953 as Warrant Officer 52.
The records state that Banjo was the sixteenth Nigerian to be commissioned as an officer in the Nigerian Army, (NA 16).
In those days, Nigerian officers were entitled to training in England or nearby countries, by virtue of our colonial tie to Britain.
Banjo was a product of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where he also obtained a B Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.
By the early 1960s, Banjo had risen to become the first Nigerian Director of the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Corps of the Nigerian Army.
It was the ideal life. He was a young man in his 30s with a young wife and two children.
On January 15, 1966, many of Banjo's peers executed the decision to take power from the civilian government.
Banjo's love for his wife lives in his letters and the accounts of his children. (Abiyamo)
They went on a rampage, killing many national and regional leaders in what we have now simplified into calling the 1966 coup. It is perhaps the most important day in Nigeria's history.
Detention
It is also the day when Banjo's travails began, the day when life decided to throw him through filters and ask questions that make a man wonder what drives him at the core.
Shortly after Major-General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi came to power following the 1966 coup, Lt. Col. Banjo was summoned to the office of the newly-selected Supreme Military Commander.
Three days after Aguiyi-Ironsi came to power, Banjo was summoned to the office of the Supreme Military Commander and was arrested while he was still waiting to see the Head of State.
Few people can say they understand what happened next but Banjo was accused of planning to kill the Head of State, General Aguiyi-Ironsi and summarily detained.
It has been suggested in accounts of that period that Ironsi was simply caught in the middle. The politics of the coup had been very tribal.
After a team of largely Igbo soldiers had murdered the majority of the North's leaders, there was pressure on him.
From the North, he was expected to bring the coup plotters to justice. Eastern leaders were pleased that the perceived Northern stranglehold had been broken. Ironsi did not know what to do and the people needed scapegoats.
It was not the first time that matters of tribe would determine the course of his life.
Banjo was detained until the Northern counter-coup in the same year. In a different world, Banjo would have been released. But somewhere in the ripple effects of that coup, Banjo tried to stand up for a Yoruba soldier.
Despite protesting his innocence, he was thrown in jail for the second time. He would stay there until May 1967.
Letters from Prison
It is often said that adversity brings out the bet in men. And while he would have flourished undoubtedly outside the prison walls, it was then that Banjo showed the moral fibre and liberal system of beliefs that would make him stand out at the most trying moments in his short life.
A rare photo of Banjo and his young family. (Nairaland)
Most of these can be seen in his letters.
According to the book "A Gift of Sequins", at the time, Banjo had a young family of four children. He did his best to staying touch and improve what was undoubtedly a hard time through constant letter writing.
Banjo's letters revealed that he had a liberal, non-tribalistic worldview. At the core, he was a man who loved his country and wanted to see his fellow soldiers do much better.
When the Biafra War began, Banjo had been moved to prison in the East. Colonel Odumegwu Ojukwu, the leader of the new Biafran nation, released him and made him a colonel.
Despite his tribe, Banjo sought to fight for the new country against what he saw as institutional tribalism and genocide.
Later he would say, "However when l discovered the emerging trend that followed the declaration of Independence of Biafra, it became clear to me that a war with the North was imminent."
"I decided to stay behind and assist in the prosecution of the war, both for the sake of my friendship with Colonel Ojukwu and in the hope that having assisted to fight back the Northern threat to Biafra, he would assist me with troops to rid the Mid-West and Lagos of the same menace."
There was scepticism to his role in the Biafran Army, but Banjo quickly proved himself to his fellow soldiers and earned their belief.
The Yoruba Biafran
He proved himself as a master tactician and a fearless soldier, traits that he proved when the Biafran Army attacked Nigeria.
When the Nigerian Army invaded Biafra on July 6, 1967, Ojukwu sent Lt. Col. Banjo and Major Albert Okonkwo to invade Nigeria.
The Biafra war left many homeless. (Archive)
Banjo and his team moved quickly. He was able to capture Benin City in less than 24 hours.
By the time his division took a break, he and his soldiers were able to get within 300 kilometres of the Nigerian capital Lagos.
Something changed when they tried to enter Lagos.
The Biafran offensive on Lagos started heavily and with purpose. Reports of that time say it moved at a "lighting quick speed" but midway, Banjo, along with his fellow commanders, Okonkwo and Major Emmanuel Ifeajuna stopped and turned their army back to Biafra.
On getting back to Biafra, Ojukwu had the soldiers detained.
It is reported that Ojukwu saw their retreat as an act to sabotage Biafra's existence.
Why they did is not exactly known. Some relations of Ifeajuna have made claims that, as the was war progressed, Banjo and Ifeajuna did not share the idea of a break up of Nigeria.
Their cases were taken to a tribunal. After the first tribunal dismissed the case, a second tribunal sentenced the soldiers to death.
Many of Ojukwu's actions during the war have been questioned. (Abiyamo)
At his sentencing, Banjo said, " I came into the war at a moment of temporary collapse of the Biafran fighting effort, when it became quite clear to me that the fighting effort of the Biafran Army was not only being incompetently handled, but also being sabotaged."
"Since then, it has been my fortune to command the Biafran troops on their successful exploits."
"On the whole, l had in private, told Col Ojukwu that l could never be made to stand charged for having plotted against his office and his person. There was no plot against him"
On September 22, 1967, Banjo, Emmanuel Ifeajuna, and Philip Alale were marched into the Enugu city centre and tied to a pole. A firing squad of Biafran soldiers fired at them.
When Banjo was hit, he reportedly yelled defiantly, "I'm not dead yet!" and he had to be shot multiple times before he died.
Today, the legacy of the soldiers who fought on both sides has been largely forgotten. But in a country where tribal relations are still harsh, Lt. Col. Banjo set a template for living beyond tribe, for the greater purpose of humanity

RELEASE TONY EZIMAKOR OR CHARGE HIM TO COURT
PRESS STATEMENT
By
Femi Aborisade, Esq.
The detention of Mr. Tony Ezimakor, the Abuja Bureau Chief of Daily Independent newspaper since Wednesday, 28th February 2018, allegedly by the State Security Service (SSS) without being charged to court is not only a sad reminder of brutal suppression of press freedom under Decree No 4 of 1984, it is an unacceptable violation of Sections 35(1) & (5) and 39(1), which provide constitutional guarantees for personal liberty, being brought before a court within a reasonable time defined as one day where there is a court of competent jurisdiction within a radius of forty kilometers and freedom of expression and the press, including protection against disclosure of source of information.
Indeed, within the context of Section 22 of the Constitution, which imposes a constitutional mandate on the mass media to make those who hold reins of power responsible and accountable to the people, Tony Ezimakor ought to be celebrated for his investigative journalism rather than being persecuted.
It is an irony that a government that claims to be fighting corruption now detains a journalist who carried out investigative journalism with findings suggesting that whereas the Federal Government claims no ransom is being paid to Boko Haram insurgents for the release of abducted victims, the contrary is likely to be the truth and that the Boko Haram phenomenon might have been turned into a business venture by which some public officers are milking the country dry. A government that is serious about fighting corruption ought to have partnered a journalist like Tony Ezimakor to identify and expose those alleged public officials who might be unlawfully deriving pecuniary benefits from efforts to free abducted Boko Haram victims and confer on Tony Ezimakor one of the highest national honours in recognition of his courage, skills and sacrifices in helping to facilitate the attainment of the goal of fighting corruption, which is the central plank of the program that brought the APC into power in 2015.
While we do not support irresponsible and false publications, it should be made abundantly clear that constitutionally and statutorily, by the state of the law on press freedom as interpreted by the courts, Tony Ezimakor cannot be compelled to disclose the source of his information.
Section 39(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended guarantees freedom of expression and the press, and the courts have interpreted this to include protection against disclosure of source of information by a journalist. Similarly, Article 4 of the Code of Ethics for Nigerian Journalists stipulates that "a journalist should observe the universally accepted principle of confidentiality and should not disclose the source of information obtained in confidence". The Code of Ethics for Nigerian Journalists is made pursuant to Section 9 of the Nigerian Press Council Act. Therefore, the Code of Ethics for Nigerian Journalists has the force of law.
We therefore condemn as not only unlawful but unconstitutional, the alleged demand by the State Security Service (SSS) that Tony Ezimakor should disclose the source of his information as the condition for his release.
As the Code of Ethics for Nigerian Journalists prescribes, the right against disclosure of source of information is a universally guaranteed right and the Courts, nationally and internationally have upheld the right against disclosure of source of information.
In British Steel Corporation v. Granada TelevisionLtd (981) 1 All ER 417 at 441, Lord Denning held as follows:
"The public has a right of access to information, which is of public concern and of which the public ought to know. The newspapers are the agents, so to speak, of the public to collect that information and to tell the public of it. In support of this right of access, the newspapers should not in general be compelled to disclose their sources of information. Neither by means of discovery before trial. Nor by questions or cross-examination at the trial. Nor by subpoena. The reason is because, if they were compelled to disclose their sources, they would soon be bereft of information, which they ought to have. Their sources would dry up. Wrongdoing would not be disclosed. Charlatans would not be exposed. Unfairness would go unremedied. Misdeeds in the corridors of power, in companies or in government departments would never be known. Investigative journalism has proved itself as a valuable adjunct of the freedom of the press."
The Courts in Nigeria have equally upheld the right against disclosure of source of information. In Tony Momoh v. Senate of the National Assembly & Ors (1981) 1 NCLR 105, it was held, inter alia, within the context of constitutional guarantees of freedom of expression and the press, that:
"… How else is a dissemination of information to operate if those who supply …such information are not assured of protection from identification and/or disclosure"
Similarly, in Innocent Adikwu (Editor, Sunday Punch Newspaper) & Ors v. Federal House of Representatives of the National Assembly & Ors (1982) 3 NCLR 394, it was held, inter alia, that:
"It must be remembered at all times that a free press is one of the pillars of freedom in this country as indeed in any democratic society. A free press reports matters of general public importance, and cannot, in law be under an obligation, save in exceptional circumstances to disclose the identity of the persons who supply it with the information appearing in its report. Section 36 [now section 39] of the Constitution which guarantees freedom of speech and expression (and press freedom) does provide a constitutional protection of free flow of information. In respect of the press, the editor's or reporter's constitutional right to a confidential relationship with his source stems from that constitutional guarantee of freedom of speech and expression. If this right does not exist or is not protected by the courts when contravened or when there is a likelihood of its being contravened, the press's sources of information would dry up and the public would be deprived of being informed of many matters of great public importance. This must not be allowed to happen in a free and democratic society. In a country with a written Constitution which establishes a constitutional structure involving a tripartite allocation of power to the legislature, the executive and the Judiciary as coordinate organs of government, the judiciary as the guardian of the fundamental law of the land has the role of passing on the validity of the exercise of powers by the Legislature and Executive and to require them to observe the Constitution of the land."
Indeed, by section 379 of the Criminal Code, the publication by Tony Ezimakor can be categorized as conditionally privileged, being a fair comment on issues of public interest and morality, which has not been established to be false or made in bad faith.
On the grounds of the foregoing argument and restatement of the law, we call on the SSS to either charge Tony Ezimakor to court (if the authorities believe they can successfully press charges against him) or release him unconditionally and immediately, without any further delay.
We shall resist, within the bounds of the law, any attempt by any regime to take us back to the dark days of military dictatorship under the repressive and obnoxious Decree No. 4 of 1984, which PMB used to viciously suppress press freedom as the then military dictator.

Nigerians Are Getting Poorer - IMF
voxnews
Nigerians are getting poorer, says IMFnigeria 's people are getting poorer despite the country 's slow recovery from recession and economic reforms are urgently needed , the International Monetary Fund has said .
The Fund expects the government to " muddle through " in the medium term , and any progress could also be threatened if elections next year consume political energy and resources , it said in a report seen by Reuters on Wednesday .
Since emerging from recession in the second quarter of 2017, Nigerian officials have repeatedly boasted that they have set the economy back on track .
But critics say much of the recovery comes from a return to oil dependence after a rise in global oil prices and a rebound in crude production , more the result of militants in the Niger Delta halting attacks on oil facilities than of economic policy under President Muhammadu Buhari 's administration .
The IMF said in the report that the outlook for growth had improved but remained challenging.
" Comprehensive and coherent " economic policies " remain urgent and must not be delayed by approaching elections and recovering oil prices ," it stated in its annual Article IV review of Nigeria 's economy .
" Higher oil prices would support a recovery in 2018 but a 'muddle - through ' outlook is projected for the medium term under current policies, with fiscal dominance and structural constraints leading to continuing falls in real GDP per capita ," the IMF added .
In the report, it identified risks to growth , including additional delays to implementing policies and reforms ahead of the 2019 elections, security tensions , and oil prices , a fall in which could see capital flows reversed .
" Further delays in policy action , including because of pre - election pressures , can only make the inevitable adjustment more difficult and costlier ," the report added .
The lender repeated its call for Nigeria to simplify its complex foreign exchange system, a bugbear for the IMF for more than a year , which has left large gaps between official rates and various windows that certain groups can use to get other rates .
" Moving towards a unified exchange rate should be pursued as soon as possible . The IMF staff does not support the exchange measures that have given rise to the exchange restrictions and multiple currency practices ," it stated.
The Fund further singled out the central bank , saying it should discontinue direct interventions in the economy .
The Central Bank of Nigeria frequently injects hundreds of millions of dollars into the foreign exchange market to keep its own rates stable .
Commercial banks struggling to remain solvent were also called out, but not identified by the IMF , including one that the lender said was already insolvent , adding, " Some of these banks are kept afloat through continuous recourse to the CBN 's lending facilities .
The IMF said it would not comment on purported leaks . A spokeswoman for the Fund said a statement would be issued after the lender's board 's meeting to discuss its assessment on Friday
