VOTING SHOULD BE MANDATORY IN NIGERIA




  

Due to voter's apathy in Nigeria during election ,National Asssembly should amend all the necessary laws to make voting for citizen above 18yrs mandatory ,this will encourage many people to to fulfil their civic obligations .Also all Nigerians that would be on the field on election day ,the policemen ,army ,INEC officials and election observers should be allowed to participate in early vote process ,which we allow them to vote a week ahead.Many countries across the globe operate mandatory voting system with consequence for violators  about 22 nations around the world make voting mandatory for its citizens, often starting at age 18. Several of these countries are in Latin America with a handful allowing citizens to age out of compulsory voting by as early as age 65. In Australia, failure to vote can result in a $20 fine.More than 700m people lives in Countries with compulsory voting laws.
