Police officer set on fire with petrol bomb during riots in Paris

Horrific images show police engulfed in flames after protesters threw petrol bombs in Paris today.

Six officers were injured during riots in protest against far right Marine Le Pen's success in the first round of the French presidential election.

One officer, believed to be the man pictured above, was seriously hurt by a firebomb which exploded on the top of his helmet.

Footage from the scene shows the officer run back from the scene trying to put out the fire which has engulfed him .
